A culture of living in harmony with nature in the northernmost part of Scandinavia
Hikki's source of inspiration comes from the Sami people who live in Lapland, the northernmost part of the Scandinavian Peninsula.
The Sami are reindeer herders known for their "kuksa" cups made from birch burl. Their ingenuity in living in harmony with nature is reflected in Hikki's products.
It is robust and simple, and functions equally well in a hustle and bustle of the city as it does in a remote area with only the starry sky as a backdrop.
Producing sustainable products with timeless design and encouraging a peaceful lifestyle are at the heart of Hilkki's concept.
Origin Story
Founder Per Enoksson
Hikki was founded in 2009 by designer Per Enoksson, who has roots in the Sami ethnic minority in Scandinavia.
He was born and raised in the natural environment of northern Sweden, where he learned how to make Sami tools in his parents' studio and enjoyed a childhood full of creative adventures.
Story
In the mid-90s, he built a Native American-style sauna tent (sweat lodge). Instead of a traditional hot tub, he placed an enamel bathtub next to it, heated the water by burning firewood directly underneath, and enjoyed a wood-fired bath.
The action surrounding this outdoor bath, the fire and the feeling of being immersed in the surrounding nature became the core experience of the Hikki brand.
Driven by a love for bathing in nature, the idea was realised several years after a long mountain climbing journey, and in 2010 the Bohemian wood-fired bath was born - light, spacious, easy to clean and beautiful in any environment.
Creating timeless designs, simple and sustainable products and encouraging a peaceful lifestyle are at the heart of Hilkki's concept.
